June 27 - Tides and Mountains

I usually say "high tide" or "low tide" but I haven't acknowledged the period between high tide and low tide, or low tide and high tide. The name for that is "slack tide." It's the period when the direction of the water is changing. In this photo it is Slack Tide because the water is coming in, but it is not yet "High tide." 

In this video the water is moving to high tide, but it is not all the way there yet because at high tide, you can barely see the tops of the rocks.

You can almost feel the force of the water in this video and you can watch the tide moving in toward high tide.

In this video, you can see that the sand is wet in the bottom part of the video and as the waves crash, they crash further and further back toward the rocks so it is low tide.

Those mountains in the background are about 43 miles away!

That volcano is about 40 miles away!

Sometimes we can only see clouds where the mountains should be.
