July 16 -

Today it was relatively warm in the high 60s, so I took a walk down to the beach.

Lots of people were swimming!

Outside the Clam Beach State Park boundaries certain people are allowed to bring down houses for the fishing season. You can see the white buoys of a set net.
The people drive their cars and trucks down and huge freezer boxes like the yellow one in the foreground.
They put their catch in the big yellow boxes and carry them up to the fish processors.
They houses are on stilts because they are in danger of flooding if there is an unusually high tide.
Some people pile sand and rocks in front of their houses since they can be there from July through August.
Some of the people bring boats down too.

There is only 1.2 miles of beach owned by the State Parks at Clam Gulch. It's hard to believe that the Razorback Clam has any chance of rejuvenating with all those cars, trucks, houses and people driving over the beach .
Still it makes me happy to come across these rock statues that people create on the beach.
And the tides are amazing
and then there are the sunsets!

See the eagle on the rock on the right?
