Along the road was forests with mountains in the background
and beautiful lakes along the road.
Some of the lakes were covered in lily pads.
Can you see the white head of an eagle in trees? I saw many eagles along the road.
And even though it was July, there were Columbine growing along the road. In Illinois Columbine bloom in the Spring.A Columbine bud.
The scenery was spectacular!
Some of those white patches on the mountain are glaciers.
That large white patch is the the Exit Glacier.
To get to the glacier, I had to park the car and walk up a trail.
There it is, a long river of ice and rocks!
Along the edges are huge hills of the rock and dirt the glacier drops as it moves downhill.
Below the glacier melting water escapes creating these braided streams.
The water in the braided streams is full of dirt and rocks and the water is very cold!
Looking down the mountain at the braided streams.
Taking a last look at the glacier.
The harbor at Seward.
Most of the stores and restaurants were closed, but it was fun to walk around anyway. I had a lunch of fish and chips in Seward. The fish was halibut which melted in my mouth! Now it's time to drive back to Clam Gulch.
