August 14 - Kayaking at Johnson Lake

I finally had a chance to go kayaking in my kayak, but instead of kayaking in the ocean, I went to Johnson Lake, a large local fresh water lake. Here is my kayak loaded up and ready to go.

The water was calm.  It was cloudy and the air temperature was in the 60s.

I shared the lake with these birds, called 'loons.'

There was a lot of water lilies growing in the lake.
These two lilies still have their petals attached.

This one no longer has any petals.
I noticed that along the shores of Johnson Lake grew many evergreen trees which is different than when I kayak in the midwest where deciduous trees grow along the shore.
I kayaked for a long time because it stays light so long here, but eventually I had to return to Clam Gulch. It was worth it to see this sunset.
