This is a magpie. It's a little bigger than a pigeon and has a really long tail. They have beautiful iridescent feathers on their wings and tail. They are very common at Clam Gulch. They live in the forest and seem to stay together in small groups and call to each other all day. They will take pieces of food off your table, or off the ground. Once I had one take half of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich off my picnic table! After thatI was really careful not to leave anything around for them to eat.
They are well camouflaged in the trees.
This one appears to be pecking at the wound in this tree and drinking the sap.
