Places in Alaska are really far apart from each other and Clam Gulch - Soldotna 20 miles, Homer 50 miles, Anchorage 5 hours, Seward 130 miles...so it seems I'm always on the road. Gas here is $3.49 a gallon. Still it's nice to get away from Clam Gulch and see other places.
Along the spit in Homer there are large boulders to try and reduce erosion from the ocean waves.
On the spit is this memorial to those who've lost their lives in the sea. It's called the Seafarers Memorial. There's a campground right behind it.
Many buildings in Homer have murals on them. This one has two - the bottom one is a moose and the top one is the mouth of a salmon jumping out of the water. This store uses old sweaters, socks and clothes to make new clothes.
There are these beautiful flower pots are all over on the spit. I think that's amazing since the plant I bought when I got here looks small and sickly!
These sunflowers are growing out of a crack in the sidewalk!
Some stores in Homer sell Native Art like this carving. To me, their art seems to have a spirit.
